Writing is a lonely task. Sometimes it's just great to sit down with a colleague and mull over and discuss ideas and potential directions and plots and characters and environments for a writing project.

We offer you an opportunity to do exactly that with experienced teacher and author. You can book one or more sessions that are designed to be conversations about your writing project at whatever point in progress your project is - starting out, part-way through, almost finished.

We like to hold these sessions at public venues like coffee shops or libraries chosen by you.

We currently offer regular mentoring programs in conjunction with Spectrum Writing. We also offer a similar opportunity through Millswood Books to anyone who is pursuing a writing project who would like to have regular weekly, fortnightly or monthly conversations with an experienced writing mentor to discuss, assess and improve the project throughout its duration.

We can hold mentoring sessions either online via Zoom or at a public library chosen by you.

If you're looking for someone to read your draft manuscript to comment on matters like readability, layout, story arc, plot integrity, character development and consistencies, we can do that and we will provide you with written feedback regarding our observations and considerations for improving the manuscript content and layout.

We set the cost for manuscript feedback at $20 per 1000 words, but we can negotiate the price according to the nature or type of manuscript being read.

Professional editing is a time-consuming task and requires close attention to detail. We offer you the opportunity to have your manuscript professionally edited to ensure there are no spelling, grammatical, punctuation, word choice, layout, repetitive/duplications or typo errors in your work.

For editing tasks, we charge $80 per hour that we spend  on your manuscript and we will work the time spent within your budget allowance. We do this because some manuscripts will require minimal corrections while others will need significant time investment to improve. This way we can also offer short editing interaction, say, for a chapter, that will enable you to apply corrections for yourself that we suggest are needed throughout the entire manuscript and therefore save yourself significant costs.

If you have a writing project that is completed or close to completion that:

(a) will have very limited printing numbers

(b) that you want to personally publish

(c) hasn't attracted a traditional publisher's attention

we can guide and help you through the self-publishing process and provide cover design, layout and editing services to bring your manuscript into the published world as hard copy and or ebook.

We  offer a wide variety of writing workshops for interested writing groups. From generating ideas, practising writing techniques, developing strong and interesting characters, creating story arcs and plot and sub-plot construction, through to crafting engaging openings and satisfying endings, we can plan and deliver engaging and active workshops for writing enthusiasts that will help them hone their skills.

If you have the venue and the participants, we can deliver the workshops. We  prefer smaller numbers ie 15 or less to maximise engagement for participants and keep costs down for organisers.

We offer workshops at $10 per participating individual per hour. As guides, for a standard three hour workshop (with a break) for 10 participants we would charge $300. For a full day workshop (6 hours plus a 30 minute lunch break and 2 x 10 minute coffee breaks) for 15 participants we charge $900. As guides, these are negotiable.
