Joy Ride
Wakefield Press published Joy Ride in 1999. The novel follows the events in Scott's life that eventuate after his father leaves the family and his mother slips into depression. It is an unforgiving view from Scott of what happens when adults make decisions at a crucial point in a boy's development. It received critical acclaim from reviewers under 25 as realistic and honest, and condemnation from older reviewers for the 'teenage angst and attitude' displayed in it.

The Last Wizard
Inspired by my daughters, Jaimee and Kim, The Last Wizard pays homage to coming-of-age as a teenage girl in a world that places restrictive gender expectations on girls. It also explores the gender myths created in a male-centric community where the men pretend to be at the local club with their mates but are really cheating on their family. Pan MacMillan published The Last Wizard in 1995 and it was shortlisted to win Best Fantasy Novel in the inaugural Aurealis Awards.
